FOR GREATER ENVIRONMENTAL
AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
IN THE MEDIA
IMPORTANT NOTE AND BACKGROUND
On June 1, 2019, Oxfam-Québec, in partnership with the Girls Action Foundation, ENvironnement JEUnesse and the FTQ Youth Council, held a consultative meeting with young people between the ages of 16 and 35. The meeting’s purpose was to encourage their civic participation and enable them to speak out on issues of concern to them in the next federal election.
The opinions expressed in this document do not reflect those of the above-named organizations but rather, those of the meeting participants.
This consultation is part of a series of activities that will be supported by Oxfam-Québec, Girls Action Foundation, ENvironnement JEUnesse and the FTQ Youth Council to promote and stimulate young people’s electoral participation, which is has been declining for the last decades. Our support for youth civic engagement is part of the Canada-wide and non-partisan campaign of the Canadian Vote Coalition #cdnvote2019; a campaign that will be led by a coalition of more than 100 Canadian organizations to encourage young Canadians to get informed, heard and vote in the upcoming 2019 federal election.
